Our heart in launching this program is to not only care for children after they’ve lost their parents, but to come alongside mothers who are still fighting to keep their families together.
We’ve been working on something that has been on our hearts for a while, and we’re so excited to finally share it with you!
The 127 Program is officially launching at Abbas Heart Ministries International.
For us, this program represents something deeply important: the opportunity to come alongside families before a difficult situation becomes a crisis.
At AHMI, we care for children whose parents are no longer able to be in their lives. We’ve seen firsthand how deeply the loss of a parent can affect a child and the family left behind. But as we’ve walked alongside these children and families, we’ve also found ourselves asking an important question:
What if we could come alongside families before they reached that point?
What if, instead of only responding after a family has experienced tremendous loss and hardship, we could help provide support while a mother is still fighting to keep her family together? That question is part of what inspired the 127 Program.
The 127 Program was created to support mothers who are raising their children alone after losing a husband through death or difficult circumstances.
These moms are carrying an unimaginable responsibility.
They are raising their children while trying to keep them in school and provide food. All the while, also taking jobs and working to support the household.
They are navigating grief, financial pressure, and uncertainty while trying to remain strong for their children.
Sometimes, the best thing for a family is not for us to swoop in and take the burden away, but gently come alongside them and help shoulder the weight until they’re strong enough to take it on again. That might mean a school fee for one year, groceries during a particularly difficult month, or when an unexpected need arises.
Sometimes, it’s simply knowing that someone sees what you're carrying and is willing to help. The 127 Program is about being that helping hand.
Right now at AHMI, there are three wonderful children who joined our family in 2026.
Their father had not been part of their lives for a long time, but they had a wonderful mother who loved them deeply and worked hard to provide for them. She was doing everything she could to care for her children and keep her family together.
Then, one day, she stepped on a thorn. It was a common hazard, something that could happen to anyone. But the small wound became infected and slowly grew into something much more serious.
This mama didn’t have the means to see a doctor, so she did what so many mothers do when they have limited options: she kept going. She pushed through the pain and continued caring for her children. A year after she first stepped on that thorn, she finally made it to a hospital.
By then, it was too late. The infection had spread into her blood, and there was nothing more the doctors could do.
She passed away, leaving her three little ones behind.
We can't help but wonder: What if someone had been there?
What if she had been able to see a doctor when the wound first became infected? What if someone had stepped in when the medical bill was more than she could afford? What if a little help at the right time could have changed the story?
Would that mama still be here with her children? Could this family have stayed together for many years to come?
We may never know the answers to those questions. But her story reminds us why the 127 Program matters.
The heart behind this program is to step in before the need becomes dire. Before a small problem becomes a crisis. Before a mother and her children are separated forever.
To a mother who is struggling to provide, every bit of help matters. Every dollar toward groceries, medical bills, or school fees can make a difference. This is why practical support matters.
Sometimes helping a family stay on their feet starts with simply giving them a hand when they're struggling to stand.
Our goal is simple: to remind single mothers that they don’t have to do this alone.
The story of this mama is a reminder of why we believe this work matters so deeply. For years, the heart of AHMI has been rooted in James 1:27, which calls us to care for orphans and widows in their trouble.
“Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”
We’ve spent years caring for orphans. But as we’ve continued to serve families in Kenya, we’ve become increasingly aware of the widows and single mothers who are doing everything they can to care for their children.
The 127 Program is an opportunity to answer that call in a new way. It’s an opportunity to not only care for children after they’ve lost their parents, but to come alongside mothers who are still fighting to keep their families together.
“127” is more than just the name of a program. It represents the heart of what we believe we are called to do: care for families in their time of need, remind them they are not alone, and help carry the weight when it becomes too heavy to carry by themselves.
We’ve spent years caring for orphans.
Now, we’re reaching the widows too.

The 127 Program is about financial support, but we hope it becomes something bigger than that.
It's about dignity, encouragement, and community.
It's about reminding a mother who may feel forgotten that she is seen.
We believe that supporting a mother can have an impact that reaches far beyond her.
When a mother receives the support she needs to keep moving forward, her children benefit too.
A little assistance can help create stability.
Stability can create opportunity.
And opportunity can help shape a child's future.
This program is only possible because people like you choose to care.
If you feel led to support the 127 Program, there are families who would be blessed by your generosity.
Your gift may help provide practical assistance to a mother and her children during a difficult season.
You may never meet the family your gift helps.
You may never know exactly what their day looked like before they received that assistance.
But you can know this:
You helped remind a family that they are not alone.
If your heart is led to give to these mamas and their children, we would love for you to be part of the 127 Program.
